In an effort to strengthen the communal bonds of the Spirilla ecological village, the proposed Community Center programmatically supports the inhabitants journey towards self actualization (the fulfillment of one’s talents and potentialities) as they continue to develop within the Spirala Ecological Community. The significance of the individual’s pursuit of SA is based upon the notion that “strong communities are composed of strong individuals,” and as a result, desires to strengthen the communal bonds by first self-initiating a deeper experience into their own self-discovery. The building program is a direct abstraction of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, reorganized into four main categories, and positioned along the main artery of the building, allowing visitors to inhabit these spaces designed for self fulfillment and self-discovery.
